Piping Design & Engineering

Piping Design and Engineering Services

Route piping with operation and construction in mind.

Develop piping layouts that work with the equipment, structure and operating needs of the plant. Teckniv combines routing, material engineering, 3D coordination and stress inputs to produce clear fabrication and installation information. We support new facilities, brownfield modifications and tie-ins across industrial projects.

Who we support

EPC contractors, plant owners and fabricators that need coordinated piping layouts, material information and installation drawings for new systems or brownfield changes.

01 / Engineering capabilities

Capabilities shaped around your project.

The scope is agreed around the decisions, interfaces and engineering outputs your team needs. These work areas can be combined into a defined package.

Layout and routing

Develop plot, equipment and piping arrangements around process requirements. Review access, drainage, maintenance space and construction interfaces when coordinating routes.

Materials and component definition

Prepare piping material specifications, line information and component requirements. Coordinate the selected materials and ratings with process conditions and client criteria.

Stress and support coordination

Integrate flexibility and nozzle-load findings into the layout. Develop support requirements and coordinate loads and attachment details with structural and mechanical teams.

Drawings and brownfield updates

Prepare isometrics, general arrangements and material quantities. Incorporate agreed tie-ins, field markups and as-built updates with clear revision records.

02 / Your engineering package

Clear deliverables. Ready for the next team.

The deliverable list is agreed at the start. Each issue identifies its purpose, revision and outstanding inputs for the next project stage.

  • Piping design basis and material specifications
  • Plant and piping general arrangements
  • Coordinated 3D piping models
  • Fabrication isometrics and support drawings
  • MTOs and bills of materials
  • Tie-in schedules and as-built updates

03 / How we work

A clear route from requirement to handover.

We establish the design basis first, then develop and review the package with your project team.

  1. 01

    Agree the requirement

Validate the piping basis and equipment interfaces.

  2. 02

    Develop the package

Develop routes and the coordinated model.

  3. 03

    Review & coordinate

Resolve clashes, access and stress-related changes.

  4. 04

    Issue & hand over

Issue drawings and quantities with controlled revisions.

04 / The technical context

Aligned with your facility and requirements.

The equipment duty, project location and client standards determine the methods, platforms and acceptance criteria.

Industries & applications

Oil and gas, chemicals, petrochemicals, power, water treatment and industrial utilities. Packages can cover process areas, equipment connections, racks and plant tie-ins.

Software & digital delivery

2D/3D plant-design workflows and model reviews support routing and documentation. Published platforms include AutoCAD Plant 3D and AVEVA PDMS, with Navisworks for coordination and CAESAR II for relevant stress interfaces. The deliverable platform is agreed for each project.

Standards & design basis

The applicable piping code, client line classes and material specifications are defined in the project basis. Pressure, temperature, corrosion allowance, equipment constraints and inspection requirements are coordinated with process and mechanical engineering.

Frequently asked questions

Practical answers to common scope and coordination questions.

What information does a piping isometric provide?
An isometric communicates the pipe arrangement and required fabrication or installation information, such as dimensions, components and material references. Its intended use, revision and unresolved field checks should be clear before issue.
Are material quantities fixed throughout design?
Quantities develop as routing and equipment information mature. Each issue should identify the model or drawing revision on which it is based.
How do piping design and stress analysis work together?
Routing and support concepts are reviewed against flexibility, movement and nozzle-load requirements. Stress findings can require changes to routing or supports, which are then reflected in the model and drawings.
What additional information is needed for a brownfield tie-in?
Verified connection details, available space, existing materials and conditions, isolation requirements and the client’s shutdown constraints. The design records which field dimensions and conditions still need confirmation.
