Process Engineering & Design

Process Engineering and Design Services

Connect process requirements with practical engineering.

Develop and improve the process systems that determine plant performance. Teckniv provides process engineering from concept and FEED through detailed design, commissioning support and operational improvement. We combine process modeling, hydraulic assessment, equipment sizing and safety inputs to connect design decisions with the way a facility will operate.

Who we support

Plant owners addressing operating constraints, EPC design teams developing new systems, and consultants coordinating process inputs with equipment, piping and controls.

01 / Engineering capabilities

Capabilities shaped around your project.

The scope is agreed around the decisions, interfaces and engineering outputs your team needs. These work areas can be combined into a defined package.

Process modeling and documentation

Prepare process design bases, steady-state simulations, PFDs, P&IDs and associated technical documentation. Reconcile assumptions and operating cases across the package.

Equipment and hydraulic engineering

Evaluate equipment and line sizing, pressure losses, control elements and relief-system requirements. Coordinate process conditions with mechanical and instrumentation teams.

Energy and utility studies

Develop heat and material balances, assess utility demand and examine performance constraints. Support energy improvement and debottlenecking studies using the available operating information.

Safety and operational support

Develop operating and control philosophies, participate in process safety studies and support troubleshooting. Update documentation to reflect agreed changes and verified plant conditions.

02 / Your engineering package

Clear deliverables. Ready for the next team.

The deliverable list is agreed at the start. Each issue identifies its purpose, revision and outstanding inputs for the next project stage.

  • Process design basis and simulation reports
  • PFDs, P&IDs and line lists
  • Heat and material balance and utility summaries
  • Sizing calculations and equipment datasheets
  • Control, operating and safeguarding inputs
  • Optimization findings and process action registers

03 / How we work

A clear route from requirement to handover.

We establish the design basis first, then develop and review the package with your project team.

  1. 01

    Agree the requirement

Agree the operating cases, design basis and study boundaries.

  2. 02

    Develop the package

Develop or validate the process model and calculations.

  3. 03

    Review & coordinate

Coordinate equipment, control and safety interfaces.

  4. 04

    Issue & hand over

Issue the process package and resolve review comments.

04 / The technical context

Aligned with your facility and requirements.

The equipment duty, project location and client standards determine the methods, platforms and acceptance criteria.

Industries & applications

Oil and gas, petrochemicals, chemicals, power, fertilizers, and water and wastewater facilities. Applications include new designs, capacity increases, energy studies and operating-plant troubleshooting.

Software & digital delivery

Process simulation, hydraulic calculations and engineering documentation tools are selected for the required study. Model assumptions, fluid-property basis, operating cases and calculation inputs are included in the engineering record.

Standards & design basis

Project design criteria and the relevant equipment, piping and relief-system requirements govern the work. HAZOP, SIL and LOPA participation is coordinated with the client’s process-safety team, with actions and design responses documented.

Frequently asked questions

Practical answers to common scope and coordination questions.

How do process engineering and process design differ?
Process design defines the process arrangement, duties and operating basis. Process engineering also supports performance studies, troubleshooting and changes through later project and operating stages. The required scope is agreed around the specific plant need.
Can an operating plant be reviewed without redesigning everything?
Yes. A study can focus on a specific bottleneck, utility system, pressure-drop issue or operating constraint, with clearly defined interfaces to the existing plant.
Can you investigate an operating bottleneck?
The study can compare operating data with the intended design duty, check hydraulic or equipment constraints and evaluate modification options. Reliable measurements and a clear definition of the performance problem are essential inputs.
How do process changes reach the other disciplines?
Revised process conditions and decisions are reflected in controlled P&IDs, line information, datasheets and control requirements. Affected piping, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation interfaces are then reviewed.
